The Georgia Institute of Technology (GT) is committed to maintaining a secure and safe environment for all facility occupants. This policy provides guidelines to ensure access to GT facilities are controlled and monitored effectively to prevent unauthorized entry, protect valuable assets, and uphold the safety of all individuals within the premises.
This policy outlines access control requirements to support security and safety of GT facilities. It articulates requirements for granting, managing, and revoking access to GT facilities, as well as responsibilities of employees, students, and visitors in maintaining a secure environment.
Overview
Access permissions for GT facilities are contingent on having an active employment, student or Affiliate status, or security clearances. Access may be further restricted by local, state, or federal controls that require restricted access, including but not limited to classified research, use of controlled unclassified information, and export controls.
Individuals requesting access must possess a valid Credential. Credential Holders will utilize their Credential to gain entry through designated access points.
Access permissions will be removed upon notification of employment termination, student graduation, and/or Affiliate end date. Credential Holder access may be suspended in GT’s sole discretion.
Employee or Affiliates
Access permissions for GT facilities are conditional upon active employment and/or Affiliate status as provided by Georgia Tech Human Resources.
Student
Residential Student access to GT Residential facilities is based on a student’s status with Housing and Residence Life. Access to GT’s non-residential facilities is based on a student’s enrollment status.
This policy applies to all employees, students, and Affiliates accessing institutional facilities.
This policy may not apply to premises or facilities that are leased or licensed by Georgia Tech to third parties.
